About Me
I write and illustrate stories that inspire people to explore life, places and nature whilst embracing adventure because as a child I was lucky enough to know a world that let me run wild, imagine and play out with no restrictions. I want people to be able to experience and embrace the real and the magical whether on foot or from their comfortable armchair at home.
I grew up in the Essex countryside on a diet of the Flower Fairy books, Beatrix Potter and Swallows and Amazons, I loved their contrast of the real and the imaginary, this has stayed with me ever since and influences the work I create.
I started story writing, telling and illustrating for fun, what started as a hobby has now become my career. I am a hand illustrator specialising in watercolour, pen and ink and Arteza watercolour brush pens.
10 years ago, I was given the opportunity to write stories for children who were coming to terms with difficult life situations and their feelings of loss, grief and anger. The effect of this work was profound and even to this day it continues to amaze me how powerful and healing stories can be.
A nature lover at heart, and my deep connection to the land and our heritage led me to develop the concept of fictional Story Trails. These are stories that take the reader on a physical journey through a place weaving in activities with the purpose of linking people back to the land, nature and our heritage in a fun inspiring, engaging and educational way.
I have been commissioned by clients including the National Trust, Natural England, the Royal Horticultural Society, Woodland Trust, Museums and Parks.
So if you would like illustrations, a story or even a map just let me know and I am sure I can conjure up something that is a perfect fit.
